Do You Have a Real Friend?

Friendship is almost always linked to health and happiness. Ask a doctor, a counselor or do a search on the internet and you’ll see the connection. Sadly today many people living in advanced modern societies have difficulty making close intimate friendships.

We may have many friends who are associates and we associate with them at work, play or at church – but few friends who are real friends. Consider the saying: ‘A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.’

In the Bible one clear example of a very close friendship was that of David and Jonathan. The old King James version says that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. 1 Samuel 18:1(KJV)
